Zhang Jun, born in 1963, is a renowned economist and a senior professor in the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Fudan University. He is a recipient of multiple national talent programs, a State Council allowance recipient, a member of the Eighth Academic Committee of the State Council, and a joint convener of theoretical economics. He currently serves as the Dean of the School of Economics at Fudan University, Director of the China Economic Research Center, and Director of the Fudan-Ping An Macroeconomic Research Center. He holds adjunct professor positions at 28 universities.
Professor Zhang Jun has published approximately two hundred research papers on the Chinese economy in both domestic and international academic journals, including "Structural Change and Economic Dynamics," "The World Economy," "Economic Modelling," "China Economic Review," "Comparative Economic Studies," "Journal of Asian Economics," "Economic Systems," as well as domestic journals like "Economic Research" and "Chinese Social Science." In recent years, he has authored over ten books.
In October 2015, he, along with Lin Yifu and Fan Gang, received the Seventh China Economic Theory Innovation Award for their contributions to transitional economic theory. In January 2018, an English paper co-authored with Zhu Tian received the Bergson Prize from the American Comparative Economic Studies (ACES). According to the analysis published in March 2019, "A Shallow Analysis of High-Frequency Cited Literature in Economics Since Reform and Opening-up" by Wang Shusen and Li Gang, Professor Zhang Jun is the most frequently cited first author in high-frequency cited literature in economics since the reform and opening-up policy. His research has been cited over 10,000 times on Google Scholar, making him one of the most cited economists in mainland China.
